The fourth e:LIGA season is approaching, registrations are open now

čtvrtek 10.11.2022
In the ongoing 2022/23 season, the Czech League Football Association will follow up on its previous activities in the field of esports. The fourth season of the e:LIGA is on the agenda. All FORTUNA:LIGA clubs will once again participate in the competitive playing of EA SPORTS™ FIFA 23, their esports representatives will fight for prize money in the total value of 150,000 CZK. As the only competition in the Czech Republic, the winning duo of e:LIGA players will also receive a seat in the EA SPORTS FIFA 23 Global Series Play-Ins.

The biggest event of the Czech FIFA scene – e:LIGA under the banner of the LFA – will take place in = EA SPORTS FIFA 23 exclusively on the PlayStation 5 platform and from the first rounds entirely in the FUT game mode.

e:LIGA will be the only tournament on the Czech EA SPORTS FIFA scene this year which is part of the qualification for the EA SPORTS FIFA 23 Global Series..

"We are happy that we managed to maintain this valuable cooperation. We know that this is a very prestigious motivation for all elite Czech players and we believe that one of them will finally succeed in breaking through on the international field this year," commented Daniel Hajný, sales and marketing director of LFA, on the benefits of EA SPORTS' collaboration with LFA.

The Czech League Football Association has acquired other new partners for the project for the fourth year, including the internationally recognized brands JVC or monitor manufacturer Samsung Odyssey. Fast and safe Samsung SSDs and TP-Link network solutions are also added to the list of partners for the next season. "We greatly appreciate the support of our partners and it is evident that esports is slowly becoming an interesting medium for valuable visibility among a specific target group. For this year's e:LIGA, we managed to significantly expand the portfolio of partners," said Daniel Hajný.

Similar to the last year, the competition will take place in three phases. In the first one, several online qualifying tournaments will take place, in which anyone over 16 years of age can apply. Each tournament will take place under the flag of one of the FORTUNA:LIGA clubs that does not have its own esports team. On the first weekend of December, the long-term regular season will start, during which the clubs will play each other once during fifteen matchrounds. Fans will be able to watch selected matches in live streams on the official e:LIGA channels on Twitch and Facebook. This will be followed in March next year by the peak of the season in the form of the playoffs.

"After the regular season, only the best twelve teams advance to the elimination fights. This is one of the news of this year, which we came to after discussions with the players and fans themselves. It will be additional motivation for all matches during the e:LIGA," said Štěpán Hanuš, Director of Communications and PR of the organizing Czech League Football Association.

The teams ranked fifth to twelfth will enter the elimination part first in the preliminary round. The more successful of these pairs will then enter the quarter-finals against the best four teams of the regular season. The final weekend, which will determine the winning club of this year's e:LIGA, will take place just a few days later on March 25-26, 2023.

Another change in the game system will be the possibility for clubs to freely change the selection of their players for individual matches. "We have allowed clubs to enter up to four players on the roster, who will be available for each game of the regular season or later in the playoffs. The club must announce the final nomination for the match a day in advance, and we believe that this will raise the quality of individual matches," added Štěpán Hanuš from LFA.

The championship from last year is defended by the esports representatives of Banik Ostrava, who left the Viktoria Plzen FCVP Esport team behind, and the third place was taken by the representatives of MFK Karvina. Who will be happy this season? We will know the winners already in the spring of next year.
